The “Protect Yourself Against Fire and Shock” presentation begins by explaining how fuses and circuit breakers function to protect house wiring from overheating, thus causing potential fires.The presentation also includes how ground fault circuit interrupters protect people from the dangers of electrical shock and how arc fault circuit interrupters protect homes from electrical fires. An overview of protective electrical devices such as tamper resistant receptacles, the proper use of extension cords and surge protection with the safe use of power strips is also covered.
The presentation concludes with an overview of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and the safe use of clothes dryers and the importance of fire extinguishers.
