Adult Literacy - Pre-GED Instructor/Tutor Training Workshop

Volunteer-HandsMake a difference and help other adults reach their personal and career goals. Attend our free hands-on workshop on how to be an effective Pre-GED instructor or class assistant for the Library system's group Pre-GED classes. The training will cover various topics, such as literacy facts, classroom management techniques, how adults learn, learner motivation and goal setting, specific Pre-GED curricula, and multiple print and online resources. No prior teaching experience is needed. Space is limited. Patrons can register by calling Literacy Services at (352)628-5626.

Citrus Libraries Adult Literacy Services - New Tutor Training

Did you know that according to the Florida Legislature Report from February, 2014 in Citrus County 1 in 4 people are functionally illiterate and that nearly 21,000 adults in Citrus County lack a High School diploma? Would you like to help? Then please join Citrus County Library System Adult Literacy Services Team for a free Tutor Training Workshop and become a new volunteer adult literacy tutor. Learn proven methods to teach reading, writing, numeracy, and English speaking skills to adult learners. The two day workshop will be held at the Homosassa Public Library. To register, please contact the Citrus County Library System Adult Literacy Services Team at (352) 628-5626.

GED Science Test Prep

beakersIn this instructor led class, learners will take and review practice GED exams on multiple sciences, including: life science, earth science, chemistry, and physics. This class will also cover: online practice tests, how to write the GED short answer response, and exam tips. Space is limited.
