National Library Week
April 13 – 19, 2008
National Library Week is a time to celebrate the contributions of libraries, librarians and library workers, and the perfect time to discover how you can join the circle of knowledge @ your library.
The Citrus County Library System is celebrating National Library Week with specialized programs and activities for each library branch.
“Everyday, libraries in big cities and small towns, colleges and universities, in schools and in businesses help transform their communities,” At the Citrus County Library system, people of all backgrounds can come together for community meetings, lectures and programs, to do research with the assistance of a trained professional, to get a job or to find homework help.
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
For more information, visit the Citrus County Library branch nearest you. (More)

Friends of the Floral City Public Library Book Sale Success!
Submitted by: Mary Zavotsky
The Friends of the Floral City Public Library (FOL) book sale was a huge success and brought in $4,130.73. The sale of the old bookcases from the old library that is being torn down in preparation for the construction of the new library contributed about $350 to this total.
Almost the entire membership of the Friends Group showed up at one point or another to help out.
Comments from many of the customers were extremely uplifting. They said they could see how much we loved what we were doing and that everyone was so helpful hunting for authors or titles they were looking for. Comments from customers and workers alike all had to do with how nice, comfortable, organized and friendly everything was. The FOL members said it was the best sale ever in how well everything worked and how relatively easy it all was.
The location - Hilton Hall - once again was perfect and the church people were as thrilled as the FOL members and book buyers with how things were set up.
All in all - a perfect weekend, congratulations to all that were involved.
