Friends of the Library… Our action heroes

The Spring book sale season is over and Library Friends groups are celebrating their continued success. It started back in mid March with the Friends of the Floral City Library raising $3,700. Then in late March, the Friends of the Homosassa Public Library held their 2-day Mini-Book Sale and brought in $2,500. The much anticipated big spring sale of the Friends of the Citrus County Library System which includes Central Ridge, Coastal Region and Lakes Region libraries was held last week and broke all the previous book sale records raising over $47,432. That brings the total funds raised this Spring by the Friends groups to support libraries throughout Citrus County to over $53,632. “Our Friends and Volunteers are some of the hardest working folks in the state,” said Library Director Flossie Benton Rogers, “They love their libraries, and it shows. Their support is extremely important to us.” Funds raised by the Friends groups help buy new library materials, support educational, cultural, and literacy programs, as well as provide support for facility improvements and equipment. For future book sale information or if you are interested in joining a Friends group or volunteering, please contact a library near you. Click here for locations.
