fl-state-parks-logoSeven events will offer visitors an opportunity to participate in guided evening walks

The Friends of the Crystal River Preserve State Parks, Inc., in partnership with the Florida Park Service, Florida Public Archaeology Network and Gulf Archaeology Research Institute will kick off the fall season with the popular Moon over the Mounds guided evening walking tours.

fl-public-archaeology-network-logoThis event is a torch lit tour of the Crystal River site led by professional interpretive guides though the moonlit Crystal River Archeological State Park. The Crystal River archaeological site is a world-famous pre-Columbian ceremonial center on Florida’s west coast. Travel back in time to experience the park under the full moon to learn what life was like living on the Crystal River from 500 BC to AD 1000.

The park is located at 3400 N. Museum Pointe; northwest of the Crystal River Mall. Drive North on U.S. 19, turn left onto State Park Street, and then left onto Museum Pointe.

Reservations are not required, but recommended for larger groups. For additional information, call (352) 795-3817. To learn more about the park visit https://www.floridastateparks.org/park/crystal-river-archaeological

Adopt a Pet: Make a difference in your life... and theirs

animal-services-srSenior pets at shelters need homes

By adopting a senior pet, you are giving it a home where it can live out its last months/years comfortably, knowing they are loved.

Older dogs usually come trained and understand at basic commands. Most older dogs are already potty-trained and have mastered the basic commands such as “sit,” “stay,” “come,” and “down.” Adopting an already-trained dog will save you a lot of time and energy that you’d normally have to dedicate towards training a young dog.

Search for senior pets by visiting the Citrus County Animal Services web site http://www.citruscritters.com/

Donations are always needed.

Items Needed:
Hard Rubber Dog Balls
Newspapers
Pet Shampoo
Toys

Contact: Animal Services 746-8400 for more information.
