System Summer Programs End In Excitement!

Citrus County Library System Director, Flossie Benton Rogers announced that the Florida Library Youth Program (FLYP) and other summer programs wrapped up with much excitement. This year's theme was “Read All About It”

3151 children participated in this year's FLYP, Summer Blast, and other summer programs. Kids that participated were further encouraged to read by entering their names on Reading Logs which were used to draw prize incentives provided by the summer reading programs’ business sponsor. Bikes and Helmets were made possible with the support of Wal-Mart of Homosassa.

The completion of the FLYP Reading Logs, and the drawing of the prizewinners signaled the end of the Library System’s Summer Programs, as the children started the new school year.

Rogers stated that good reading attitudes and skills are developed when children are young, and urges parents and other primary caregivers to take a strong interest in a youngster’s reading activities.
